NASA

Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, is a vital component of NASA. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

CDC applies research and findings to improve people's daily lives and responds to health emergencies—something that distinguishes CDC from its peer agencies. Working with states and other partners, CDC provides a system of health surveillance to monitor and prevent disease outbreaks (including bioterrorism), implement disease prevention strategies, and maintain national health statistics. CDC also guards against international disease transmission, with personnel stationed in more than 25 foreign countries.


 

US Department of Veterans Affairs

The US Department of Veterans Affairs operates more than 1,300 sites of care including nearly 900 ambulatory care and community-based outpatient clinics, 136 nursing homes, 43 residential rehabilitation treatment programs, nearly 90 comprehensive home-care programs, and more than 200 Veterans Centers, where approximately 2 million veterans have been served since the first center opened in 1979. In 2005 alone, Veterans Centers handled more than 1 million visits by nearly 133,000 veterans and members of their families.

The Library of Congress is the oldest federal cultural institution in the USA and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections.


 

US Bureau of Engraving and Printing

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) develops and produces United States currency notes, printing billions of dollars - referred to as Federal Reserve Notes - each year for delivery to the US Federal Reserve System.

Washington Savannah River Co., undertakes operations of industrial complexes dedicated to environmental management and cleanup, nuclear weapons stockpile stewardship, and nuclear materials disposition in the United States.
